Inspired by the abundant element phosphorus, Clariloops weaves beautiful layers of clarinet over and around the piano, creating a cosmic dance between the two instruments. Soft synthesised sounds throughout create ambience and gently cocoon you in the space as you listen. Clariloops is the project of Australian neo-classical/electronic artist Ruby Lulham.

“For this rework I really wanted to intertwine the original recording with my clarinet and effects that I love to use so much. Working with the recording gave me this really interesting framework that I hadn’t explored before and I found that really interesting. I took a lot of different approaches to get to the end result with this piece but the main focus the whole time was creating an atmosphere that had different elements dive in and out.

“As Phosphorus is not found on its own in nature, I wanted the piece I created to have all the elements bound in different ways at any given time. I used my clarinet processed through various reverbs, as well as my synthesiser to create that effect.”
