Luminem was inspired to write a piece of piano music called Birth of Elements after listening to the audio book Living From A Place of Surrender by Michael Singer.

“There is a section of the book where Michael speaks about the process of the Big Bang, and how the first elements of the universe were initially created from plasma and went on to birth stars and the universe, which I found really fascinating. There are 92 elements (i.e. the periodic table) that make up our universe, but I had never before really reflected on how these were initially formed.”

“I then shared this piece of piano music with a diverse range of artists and asked them to do their own rework of the piece, taking inspiration from the element they most resonated with. The idea being for them to show how one base element (i.e. piano melody) can be completely transformed into a new universe (i.e. piece of music) through the lens of a different artist. Drawing a parallel between the creation of the universe and the creation of music.

“It has been a wonderful process collaborating with each of these talented artists and I have been blown away by the beautifully unique music they have created, all sparked from the one piano piece.”

Super Magic Hats has crafted a unique take on this piece through his Copper Rework. An upbeat and playful electronic jam, which ventures far away from the original piano piece. A plethora of unexpected instruments, sounds and noises intermingle into a slightly chaotic yet well coordinated track. Each section of music has its own unique style, some flirting with drum and bass, yet magically combining perfectly.

Super Magic Hats (aka Rob Masterton) is an Adelaide-based musician, producer and mastering engineer whose work embraces melody, noise and experimentation.
